KMagnifier requires you to have KDE installed on your system. More specifically, KMagnifier requires the kdebase and the kdelibs package from KDE. Uptill version 0.7, KMagnifier was being developed on KDE ver 2.x. Since then, it is developed using KDE 3.x. Version 0.8 of KMagnifier compiles on both KDE2 and KDE3. Efforts will be made to keep KMagnifier compilable on KDE2, but there is no sure word. You are welcome to maintain the backport. Other than these, there are no other requirements for KMagnifier. You can even use KMagnifier with other desktop environments like GNOME, windowmaker etc. as long as you have kdelbase and kdelibs installed.
